MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 21, and is asking for the public’s assistance in gathering information.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., officers were alerted to a possible shooting incident believed to have occurred near the intersection of Parham Street and Cedar Street. The exact location has not yet been confirmed.
The incident appears to be connected to an attempted armed robbery during which a 27-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was able to drive himself to the 500 block of Cedar Street, where he received medical assistance from the Muscatine Fire Department.
He was later transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine Hospital. The victim was conscious upon arrival and is currently listed in serious condition.
