MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine City Council will convene for a regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the City Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall. The evening’s agenda includes four public hearings, two proclamations, and a special recognition of a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient.

The meeting will begin with the recognition of Clarissa McNally, who has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award — the highest honor in Girl Scouting. This prestigious award is presented to high school Girl Scouts who exhibit exceptional leadership and make a lasting impact through sustainable community projects, each requiring over 80 hours of dedicated service.

Mayor Brad Bark will follow with two official proclamations: declaring May 18–24 as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week and Public Works Week in Muscatine, honoring the vital contributions of these professionals to the community.

Council members will then conduct four public hearings on the following topics:

  • A proposed amendment to the City Code aligning regulations on rabies suspects and animal bites with state law.
  • An application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
  • Amendment #2 to the current fiscal year budget.
  • Review of plans and specifications for the Mulberry Avenue Sidewalk Reconstruction Project.

In addition to the hearings, the Council will consider several important action items, including:

  • Sale of 910 East 2nd Street to Lumber Lofts.
  • Purchase of two light-duty buses.
  • Establishment of new rates for leased parking in city lots and designated areas.
  • Approval of a design services agreement with BNIM for the Muscatine Art Center.
  • Purchase of a video display scoreboard for the Musco Sports Center.
  • Approval of a non-alcoholic beverage agreement with Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company for the Musco Sports Center.

The meeting is open to the public, and all individuals are welcome regardless of language or ability. Anyone requiring special accommodations is encouraged to contact the City Clerk’s Office at 563-264-1550 in advance.

For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast live on Civic-TV (Muscatine Power & Water Channel 2) and streamed on the City of Muscatine’s YouTube channel.
