MUSCATINE, Iowa –Trinity Muscatine Public Health and Muscatine County Emergency Management (EMA) today released Muscatine County C.A.R.E.S, the official preparedness app for Muscatine County. The app allows for mass and emergency messaging with push notifications from the Emergency Management Agency to quickly provide information to residents in the county.
The application, called Muscatine County Community Alerting & Resource Emergency System (C.A.R.E.S), is now available for download in the Google Play store and Apple iOS store.
“This app allows both Public Health and EMA to get real-time information out to Muscatine County residents quickly” Jen Craft, Director of Trinity Muscatine Public Health, said. “The app can easily be tailored or edited to provide critical information to the public.”
The app provides instant access to local safety resources such as vaccine or public health information, safety notifications, emergency contacts, friends walk, safety toolbox, maps, weather, and flooding and disaster or emergency plans for your home or work.
“When it comes to preparing for disasters and emergencies, we want every Muscatine County citizen to be prepared and have a plan” Chris Jasper, Director of Emergency Management and 911, said. “This application gives residents the resources and information needed to make a plan and get urgent alerts and notifications.”
Jasper stated there are many sample plans available on the app along with resources and links to build plans specific for your family, and be prepared.
Another feature – the Friends Walk – allows you to send your location to a friend through email or SMS, or to share your real-time location with a friend so they can keep an eye on you and make sure you get to your destination safely.
