[ARCHIVED] City offices closing early due to forecasted severe weather

Severe Weather Hazards

MUSCATINE, Iowa – City of Muscatine offices will be closing at 1 p.m. today (March 31) due to the forecasted severe weather. The closures include Musser Public Library & HNI Community Center and the Muscatine Art Center.

A tornado watch is in effect for the Muscatine area until 8 p.m. tonight.

Two rounds of storms are forecasted to move through the Muscatine area and will be accompanied by sustained strong winds. Residents are advised to be ready to evacuate to safe places in their homes or in the workplace should severe weather occur. If you do not have to be out this afternoon and evening, please stay home and stay safe.

The National Weather Service recommends residents remain vigilant and aware of any active watches. A warning may be issued at a moment’s notice. Remind family of a communication plan your family has prepared in the case of an emergency, know how to evacuate and/or get to safety from wherever you are, and remember that if a warning is issued you may have only seconds to take action.
