MUSCATINE, Iowa - The City of Muscatine has opened applications for a dynamic and community‑minded Golf Professional to lead operations at its municipal golf course. This role is designed for an individual with a deep passion for the game of golf and a commitment to sharing that passion with players of all ages and skill levels.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $76,544–$91,852, along with an excellent benefits package that includes IPERS, health and dental coverage, life insurance, long‑term disability, vacation and sick leave, and 10 paid holidays.

A Leadership Role at the Heart of Muscatine’s Golf Community

The Golf Professional will oversee a wide range of responsibilities essential to delivering a high‑quality golf experience for residents and visitors. Key duties include:

  • Supervising daily golf operations such as tee times, pace of play, and golf etiquette
  • Managing clubhouse concessions and ensuring smooth, customer‑focused service
  • Developing and monitoring clubhouse budgets and maintaining fiscal responsibility
  • Providing golf instruction through private lessons, group clinics, league organization, tournament scoring, and equipment recommendations
  • Creating and executing merchandising strategies to support pro shop and concession sales
  • Leading public relations initiatives to grow the game and increase course visibility
  • Representing the City of Muscatine at public events and community functions
  • Organizing junior golf programs to inspire the next generation of players
  • Coordinating leagues, outings, and special events to expand course usage
  • Managing off‑season marketing and programming to maintain year‑round engagement
  • Handling administrative responsibilities including cash management, purchasing, and compliance with city policies

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of professional expertise, leadership ability, and enthusiasm for community engagement. Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Significant experience in clubhouse management or retail merchandising, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • PGA or LPGA Class A membership in good standing
  • Eligibility for coverage under the city’s insurance carrier
  • Residency within 30 air miles of Muscatine city limits
  • Successful completion of a physical and drug screen following a job offer

Positions at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course

Clubhouse Supervisor - If you enjoy being at the golf course and providing excellent customer service, submit your application for this fun seasonal position! The clubhouse supervisor works in the clubhouse pro shop assisting customers with tee times, equipment rental and pro shop purchases.

Golf Course Outside Services - This position is responsible to collect golf balls on the driving range and assist patrons with outside service needs.

Golf Course Food and Beverage - This position provides customer service to patrons at the golf course concession area. Ability to provide excellent customer service, and accurately handle orders and cash is required. Must be at least 18.

General Parks and Recreation Positions

Pickleball Instructor - Are you a pickleball lover? The City of Muscatine is looking for someone to teach others how to play this rapidly growing sport. Pay is $15 per hour to teach others the basics of the game. If you're at least 16 and have knowledge of the game, we invite you to complete an application. Some coaching experience is preferred. This position may teach in both the new indoor Musco Sports Center and outdoors at Taylor Park during the summer months.

Recreation Program Instructor - Seeking candidates who enjoy working with children and are able to interact with them in a positive and encouraging way. If this is you, we'd love to talk with you about becoming a recreational youth sports program instructor during our fall and winter programming. Hours vary depending on the program. Must pass a background check.

Program Aide - Seeking candidates who enjoy working with children and are able to interact with them in a positive and encouraging way. If this is you, we'd love to talk to you about assisting with recreational youth sports programs for fall and winter programming. Hours vary depending on the program. Must pass a background check.

Lead Groundskeeper (Seasonal) - Must be able to safely use equipment such as push mowers, string trimmers and other groundskeeping equipment. This position assists in groundskeeping and maintaining the green spaces and facilities at various park sites. This position is responsible for overseeing teams of staff and motivating them to complete their job duties effectively. This position will be required to obtain their pesticide applicator license in categories: 3OT, 5 and 6. 

Seasonal Equipment Operator - Must be able to safely use equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers and other groundskeeping equipment. This position assists in mowing, groundskeeping, and maintaining the green spaces and facilities at various parks department locations. Must be at least 18.

On Site Supervisor (Soccer) - This position oversees user groups at the soccer complex. Position is responsible to assist user groups with various needs and ensure complex rules are followed. Must be able to interact professionally and courteously with members of the public, engage in some physical labor (such as emptying trash, cleaning restrooms).
