MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the expansion of its popular Walking Club program to include the Musco Sports Center.
Community members are now invited to walk indoors at the Musco Sports Center during daily open hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., providing a new, climate-controlled option for staying active year-round.
To celebrate the expansion, Parks and Recreation is launching a Community Walking Challenge for January. Residents are encouraged to participate and help answer the question: How many miles can the Muscatine community walk this month at the Musco Sports Center?
Participants who log their walking activity will be eligible for weekly incentive prizes, as well as monthly prize drawings.
Joining the Walking Club is easy. Interested walkers can register online through the Muscatine Parks and Recreation RecDesk website.
Walking Club is a community wellness program sponsored by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department. Members may walk anywhere they choose — indoors, outdoors, or on a treadmill — and track their activity by recording minutes at the Walking Club kiosk located in the center of the Muscatine Mall or at the front desk of the Musco Sports Center. Logged minutes qualify participants for monthly prize drawings.
