MUSCATINE, Iowa — With more favorable weather expected next week, the City of Muscatine will resume its fall leaf collection program beginning Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
“Based on the current forecast, we have decided to send out two leaf trucks starting Monday, January 5,” said Tyson Wedekind, Roadway Maintenance Supervisor.
Two Department of Public Works trucks will resume collection from where crews left off prior to the first snowfall.
“We will begin to pick up where we stopped during our third pass through the city, starting in Zone 8,” Wedekind said.
The City suspended leaf collection on Nov. 26, 2025, as Public Works crews prepared for the season’s first winter storm by converting leaf collection trucks for snow removal and street salting operations.
Once Zone 8 is completed, crews will return to Zone 1 and continue working through the remaining zones as weather conditions allow. Leaf collection will remain weather dependent, as the same trucks used for leaf pickup are also required for snow plowing and salt spreading.
