MUSCATINE, Iowa – Muscatine High School’s (MHS) Gray Matters Collective is teaming up with United Way Muscatine County to support the Kids First Fund through a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on November 14, 2025.

The 11th-grade Gray Matters Collective approached United Way earlier this year to explore ways they could contribute to this vital program supporting local students. On November 14, members of the group will provide delivery services for the Kids First Pancake Breakfast—marking the second time delivery has been offered at United Way’s quarterly fundraiser.

The breakfast will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. at Midwest One Bank’s Walnut Room, 300 East 2nd Street, Muscatine. Dine-in, pickup, and delivery options are available. Orders for pickup and delivery are due by 12 p.m. on November 13. Delivery orders can be placed online at https://forms.gle/BeB2m3YmEPPeg8jv7 or by calling Mason Kopf at 563-223-8497.

“As students at MHS, we believe it’s important to give back to our community,” said Camery Schaapveld, Belle Seaman, and Ivan Alvarado, members of the Gray Matters Collective. “Helping with the Kids First Pancake Breakfast allows us to support the Kids First Fund, which directly benefits students in the Muscatine Community School District. We’re honored to assist United Way Muscatine County in making a real difference for local students.”

About the Kids First Fund

United Way Muscatine County’s Kids First Fund helps remove barriers that can prevent students from succeeding in school. The fund provides opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities and ensures they have the resources they need. In 2024, the fund provided nearly $20,000 to help 2,168 students with needs including testing fees, calculators, activity registration, band supplies, sports equipment, weather-appropriate clothing, shoes, alarm clocks, caps and gowns, school supplies, and more.

“United Way Muscatine County is extremely grateful for the support of the Muscatine High School Gray Matters Collective,” said Mason Kopf, Program Manager at United Way Muscatine County. “Their volunteer efforts and promotion of the Pancake Breakfast help ensure more community members can enjoy a warm meal while supporting local students in need. We are proud to partner with such dedicated students who are making a real difference in their schools and county.”
