MUSCATINE, Iowa – It’s that time of year again! Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, so remember to set your clocks back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night. You’ll gain an extra hour of sleep — but you’ll also notice those evenings getting darker a little sooner.
When we “fall back,” we return to Standard Time, which lasts until the second Sunday in March.
The Muscatine Compost Facility at the Transfer Station on South Houser Street will also switch to its fall hours starting Sunday, November 2:
- Sunday–Friday: 12–5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
The Compost Facility is scheduled to close for the season no later than December 14, weather permitting.
Fun fact: Standard Time was first introduced by U.S. and Canadian railroads way back in 1883 to keep train schedules consistent. It became law in 1918, and the familiar “spring forward, fall back” system was officially standardized by the Uniform Time Act of 1966.
So, enjoy that extra hour of rest, and don’t forget to double-check your clocks — and maybe your smoke detector batteries while you’re at it!
