MUSCATINE, Iowa – The northbound lane of Iowa Avenue, from the #2 alley (mid-block between 2nd and 3rd Streets) to the 2nd Street intersection, will be closed from 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, through 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, for the Muscatine YMCA’s “Over the Edge” fundraising event. While the southbound lane will remain open, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes due to increased pedestrian activity during the event.
The event will feature over 90 volunteers rappelling 100 feet down the side of the Laurel Building to the sidewalk below, with setup and safety checks taking place on Thursday. Funds raised will support Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, and Habitat for Humanity.
Spectators are invited to safely view the action from the sidewalk on the south side of Iowa Avenue.
