MUSCATINE, Iowa – Labor Day is a holiday dedicated to honoring the contributions American workers have made to the strength and prosperity of our country. As the community marks this observance on Monday, September 1, 2025, City of Muscatine offices will be closed.
Several City services will adjust schedules due to the holiday:
Solid Waste & Recycling
- Transfer Station – Closed Monday; resumes normal hours Tuesday. (Regular hours: Mon–Fri 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Sat 8 a.m.–12 p.m.; closed Sundays.) Call 563-263-9689 or visit the Solid Waste Division website.
- Refuse Collection – No collection Monday. Monday’s route will be picked up Tuesday along with Tuesday’s regular route. Wednesday–Friday routes unchanged.
- Recycling Collection (Week “A”) – No collection Monday. Routes delayed one day: Monday on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, etc. Friday’s route will be collected Saturday.
- Special Curbside Collections – Bulky waste, appliances, tires, electronics, and yard waste collections suspended Monday–Tuesday. Service resumes Wednesday.
- Bulky waste requests: email bulkywaste@muscatineiowa.gov or call 563-264-5865.
- Yard waste follows residents’ refuse day starting Wednesday.
- Compost Facility – Closed Monday; resumes Tuesday. (Hours: Sun–Fri 12–6 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.–6 p.m.)
Transit
MuscaBus – No service Monday. Regular service resumes Tuesday. (Service operates Mon–Sat, no service on Sundays.) Call 563-263-8152 or visit the Public Transit website.
Library & Cultural Services
Musser Public Library & HNI Community Center – Closed Sunday–Monday; resumes Tuesday. (Regular hours: Mon–Thu 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Fri 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sat 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; Sun 12–4 p.m.) Call 563-263-3065 or visit the Musser Public Library website.
