MUSCATINE, Iowa – Say goodbye to digging for loose change to feed parking meters in Downtown Muscatine. While meters will still accept coins, the City of Muscatine now offers a faster, more convenient option: pay for parking right from your smartphone using the mPay2Park app.
Available for iPhone and Android users through the Apple App Store and Google Play, the mPay2Park system makes parking simple. Just download the app, create an account, and start or extend parking sessions from your phone—without ever leaving your vehicle. Users of other devices, including Windows or Blackberry phones, can access the mobile-friendly site at mpay2park.com, which offers the same functionality.
This mobile payment option provides a secure, efficient, and user-friendly method to manage parking throughout the downtown area.
How It Works:
- Look for the mPay2Park sticker on the parking meter.
- Open the app and log in.
- Enter your zone number and parking space number (both are printed on the sticker).
- Choose how long you'd like to park.
- Tap “Start Now” to begin your parking session.
Need more time? Whether you're finishing a meeting, enjoying lunch, or still shopping, there’s no need to rush back to the meter. The app allows you to extend your parking session remotely—up to the maximum time allowed for that meter (e.g., 2 hours at a 2-hour meter).
To help avoid tickets, the app also offers customizable text alerts five, 10, or 15 minutes before your time expires. Just be sure to enable notifications.
Please note: A $0.35 convenience fee is applied to each transaction, including initial payments and any time extensions.
Setting Up the App:
When opening the app for the first time, users will be prompted to register with their name, email, phone number, and license plate. Once your profile is complete, you're ready to park.
To begin a session:
- Tap “Park” on the home screen.
- Enter your license plate, zone number, and space number.
- Confirm the location using your GPS or scan the QR code on the meter.
- Select your duration and tap “Start Now.”
When you return to your vehicle, simply open the app and tap “Stop Parking Now.” Confirm your choice, and your session ends.
