[ARCHIVED] Tuesday's outdoor weather siren test is CANCELLED

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine County Joint Communications Center (MUSCOM) announced that the test of the county’s outdoor weather sirens WILL NOT be conducted on Tuesday, June 17, as originally planned due to the potential for severe weather in the area.

Residents should be aware that any siren heard Tuesday should be taken seriously, and move to a safe location in your home or work.

Normally, outdoor warning sirens are tested the first Monday of each month at 11 a.m., weather permitting. Tests are not conducted during freezing months or if severe weather is forecast.

Outdoor sirens are intended to alert people outside of immediate danger and prompt them to go indoors to seek more information.

If you believe a siren near you is not working properly, please contact the Muscatine County Office of Emergency Management at 563-264-7142 or ema@muscatinecountyiowa.gov.
