MUSCATINE, Iowa – Cedar Street is now closed to through traffic from East 8th Street to Fulliam Avenue for the previously scheduled underground and pavement restoration work as part of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project, and the detour route has been modified due to summer school at Jefferson Elementary.
Cedar Street is now closed to all traffic from the intersection with East 8th Street to just past the East 9th Street intersection In addition, East 9th Street will be closed at the approach to Cedar Street, and East 9th Street will be temporarily modified to be a two-way street for summer school drop offs and pickups.
Parents and/or caregivers will be permitted to turn west onto East 9th Street from the Mulberry intersection for dropping off students to summer school, and then make a loop through the school parking lot and exit back out East 9th Street toward Mulberry Avenue.
Cedar Street will be closed at Fulliam Avenue with only residents living on Cedar Street up to the East 9th Street closure or on East 10th Street between Cedar and Sycamore allowed past the Fulliam intersection.
Northbound Cedar Street traffic will be detoured to East 8th Street to Mulberry Avenue to Parham Street and back to Cedar Street. Southbound will be detoured onto Parham to Mulberry, to East 8th, and back to Cedar. A no left turn sign will be placed on Parham.
Underground work and pavement restoration is tentatively scheduled to be completed August 21, weather permitting.
MuscaBus Route Change
Due to the road construction on Cedar Street between 8th and 9th Street, the Red Route will deviate from its usual path. Instead, it will exit the hospital and turn right onto Cedar Street, then right onto Parham Street, and finally travel down Mulberry Avenue before turning right onto 8th Street. At Cedar Street, the Red Route will resume its original path.
ADDITIONAL IOWA AVENUE CLOSURE UPCOMING
Iowa Avenue will be closed to all traffic from 10th Street to Fulliam Avenue this week as work on Phase 6C of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project continues. Residents living on Iowa Avenue from Fulliam Avenue to East 11th Street will be permitted access from Fulliam Avenue.
Northbound Iowa Avenue traffic will be detoured at 8th Street to either Roscoe Avenue to the west or Mulberry Avenue to the east.
Underground work and pavement restoration is tentatively scheduled to be completed in early August, weather permitting.
MuscaBus Route Change
The Yellow Route must detour to avoid construction on Iowa and 11th St. Yellow will turn left at Iowa & 8th Street. Travel up 8th St to Roscoe and back on route.
