City Offices Closing Due To Weather (JPG) 01-12-24

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Public Transit (MuscaBus) is suspending bus service at 1 p.m. today (Jan. 12) due to the road conditions and blowing snow. MuscaBus is tentatively planning to resume service at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on snow routes, but that is dependent on the weather. Check the MuscaBus Facebook page for up-to-date information.

Muscatine City Hall and the Muscatine Transfer Station will be closing at 1 p.m. today (Jan. 12). The Transfer Station will also be closed Saturday. Be sure to check the City of Muscatine website for updates.

The Musser Public Library will be closed today (Jan. 12) and Saturday. Watch for updates on the status of the Library on MPW Cable Channel 5, the Library website, or the Library Facebook page.

The Muscatine Art Center closed at 12:00 p.m. today (Jan. 12) and will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. The Art Center is tentatively scheduled to reopen Tuesday (Jan. 16) depending on the weather. Check the Muscatine Art Center Facebook page for updates.

Public Safety personnel will be on duty and respond as needed. For non-emergency needs please call 563-263-9922. If you experience an emergency, please dial 9-1-1.

Republic Services cancelled curbside recycling collection for Friday and Saturday. Recycling was already delayed one day this week due to the snowstorm on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday recycling collections for Route A will NOT be collected until the Route A dates of Thursday, Jan. 25, and Friday, Jan. 26. Republic has made an exception to their collection efforts for residents affected by the rescheduling (those on the Thursday or Friday “A” route) as they will be allowed to place any recycling material that will not fit into their bin in a bag next to the recycling bin for collection on Jan. 25-26.

Residents with concerns with the delay in this service should call Republic customer service at 563-332-0050. Republic Services is contracted to provide the recycling collection service in Muscatine and calls made to the Transfer Station will be referred to the Republic customer service number.

Muscatine residents are reminded that the recycling drop off area at the Transfer Station is available should residents choose to bring their recycling material there at no charge.

City refuse collection ran as scheduled on Friday with the exception that no bulky waste, yard waste, or Christmas tree curbside collections took place. Bulky waste stops for Jan. 12 will be rescheduled for Jan. 19.
