MUSCATINE, Iowa – The temporary stop signs on East 8th Street at the intersection with Sycamore Street will be removed on Monday according to officials at the Department of Public Works. Drivers are urged to use caution as the intersection returns to its normal configuration.
The intersection was made a temporary four-way stop last summer as Phase 6 of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project began. The temporary stop signs on East 8th are being removed as construction activity has moved down between East 10th and East 11th streets and the construction season is coming to a close for the winter.
Sycamore will remain closed to through traffic from East 8th to Logan, but local traffic will be permitted for residents in the construction zone. A temporary surface is being placed on Sycamore from East 10th to East 11th for home owners to reach their residents. The 10th Street intersection will remain closed throughout the winter.
