MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Construction Appeal and Advisory Board was established by ordinance in November with the approval of the Muscatine City Council. The City of Muscatine is seeking five dedicated and qualified volunteers to serve on the board. Members should have experience and training pertaining to building construction.
The new board will serve a vital advisory role to the City Council in how building codes are interpreted, implemented, and written in the City of Muscatine. The board will also serve as the official appeals board in regards to building code interpretations and enforcement decisions, and help promote public understanding of the building code and its value. The City of Muscatine building codes are established in Title 8 (Building Regulations) of the Code of Muscatine.
This is your chance to make a meaningful contribution to the Muscatine community and help shape the future of construction in Muscatine.
Individuals who are residents of the City of Muscatine, who have experience in the construction industry (including architects, engineer, builders, contractors, or code enforcement professionals), have a strong understanding of building code and its application, and who are passionate about making a positive impact on their community are encouraged to submit their application.
Board members will serve a five-year term, and attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled monthly meetings. No individual serves more than two consecutive terms.
