MUSCATINE, Iowa – Offices and departments of the City of Muscatine will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in recognition and celebration of our nations’ independence. There will be no refuse or recycling collection on July 4, and no bulky waste collection on July 4 or July 5.
The Muscatine Fire Department, Muscatine Police Department, and MUSCOM will be staffed but administrative offices for each department will be closed on Tuesday. Public Works will have “on-call” staff available as needed throughout the holiday period.
Departments and offices located at Muscatine City Hall and various other locations throughout Muscatine will be closed Tuesday, but will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

- REFUSE COLLECTION - There will be no curbside refuse or yard waste collection on Tuesday. Residents on the Tuesday route will have their refuse collected on Wednesday along with the regular Wednesday route.
- RECYCLING COLLECTION – Monday’s “Week B” route will be collected as usual. There will be no collection on Tuesday with the rest of the week running a day late (i.e., Tuesday’s route collected on Wednesday, Wednesday’s route Thursday, Thursday’s route on Friday, and Friday’s route on Saturday).
- BULKY WASTE COLLECTION – There will be no bulky waste collection on Tuesday or Wednesday due to the double route refuse collection on Wednesday. For more information click on Bulky Waste.
- COMPOST FACILITY – The Compost Facility at the Muscatine Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, but will be resume normal operations on Wednesday from 12-6 p.m. For more information click on Compost Facility.
