Quad Cities native to lead Muscatine’s Municipal Golf Course

Muscatine News Posted on February 19, 2026

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is welcoming a new face dedicated to growing the game and strengthening community connections with the hiring of Michael Hainline as head golf professional.

Hainline, a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America, began his duties Tuesday (Feb. 17) and is eager to meet local golfers, introduce new players to the sport, and expand programs that serve residents of all ages and skill levels.

“Mike brings not only extensive experience but a genuine passion for community golf,” said Richard Klimes, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Muscatine. “He is excited to connect with our regular players while also welcoming newcomers who may be picking up a club for the first time.”

Most recently, Hainline served as lead PGA assistant at Briar Ridge Country Club. A Quad Cities native, he looks forward to returning to the region and becoming part of the Muscatine community.

“I believe golf courses should be gathering places for the whole community,” Hainline said. “My goal is to create a welcoming environment where families, juniors, seniors, and beginners all feel comfortable and excited to play.”

Hainline’s connection to golf began at a young age, working in bag rooms and on maintenance crews while in high school. He later competed collegiately, including at Western Illinois University, before building a decades-long career that has included coaching, course management, instruction, and leadership at public and private facilities.

City officials say Hainline will focus on expanding youth programming, clinics, leagues, and special events designed to make the municipal course a hub for recreation, wellness, and social connection.

Residents are encouraged to stop by the clubhouse, introduce themselves, and learn about upcoming programs and opportunities to get involved.

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is open to the public, offering affordable play, lessons, and community events throughout the season.

Hainline can be reached by email (mhainline@muscatineiowa.gov) or by calling the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course Pro Shop (563-263-4735).

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is currently closed. An official opening date for the 2026 season will be announced soon.
