Muscatine 4th and 5th graders are adding a burst of color and creativity to the Stanley Gallery. Participating elementary schools are Franklin, Grant, Jefferson, Madison, McKinley, Mulberry, and Saints Mary & Mathias. The Student Exhibition Reception is Sunday, April 23, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Reception details are on page 3.

Enjoy this colorful immersion created by local Muscatine students, and celebrate the accomplishments of our young artists. The reception includes craft projects in the studio, pre-packaged snacks, a special announcement from Global Education at Stanley Center and Muscatine Sister Cities, and a puppet show by Eulenspiegel. This year’s special entertainment is the puppet performance, Kate Shelley’s Train Rescue. Experience the story of the Iowa teenager who, in 1881, saved the train, preventing the passengers from plunging to a watery death. Created and performed by puppeteer Stephanie Vallez, this exciting tale unfolds in the pages of two giant pop-up books peopled with paper puppets, masks, and rod marionettes and fun, low-tech special effects. Admission is free of charge. The reception is open to all. No reservation is needed.
