MUSCATINE, Iowa – One of two public hearings scheduled for tonight’s (Feb. 21) Muscatine City Council meeting has been postponed due to a publication issue that did not allow adequate public notice of the hearing.

The public hearing on the Plans, Specifications, Form of Contract, Cost Estimates, and Bid Opening for the Houser and Fulliam Street Roundabout will be held during the March 7 City Council meeting.

The City of Muscatine received a Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) grant of $167,700 that will cover a majority of the $236,262 project. The remaining cost will be funded through motor fuel tax funds.

The City Council approved the project at its April 6, 2018 meeting following a staff review of all other options for the intersection concluded that the mini roundabout was best choice for improving traffic and pedestrian safety at that location.

A bid opening will be held in late March with work to be completed over the 2019 summer construction season.

Preliminary plans for the Houser-Fulliam Roundabout are available HERE.
