MUSCATINE, Iowa – The full depth concrete patch project begins on Wednesday, July 25, with the only “full closure” of the project. All-American Concrete was awarded the $1.0 million contract on July 19 with repairs planned at five locations.
The first will be Division Street from Evans to Warren starting on Wednesday. This is the only section of the project that will require a full closure of the street as the rest of the project will have one-lane closures. The closure is expected to last at least one week, weather permitting.
Once Division Street is completed, crews will move to Stewart Road for repairs from Wallace to Dick Drake Way. Other locations on the list for full-depth patch are Fulliam Avenue (Buell to Roscoe), Houser (Hershey to Musser), Park Avenue West (Highway 38 and Peachtree), Logan (Pinefield to Newell), and 2nd Avenue (Cleveland to Lake Park).
The full depth patch project was explained during the July 12 in-depth City Council meeting (https://youtu.be/Pk8jDOXw2MI) by Brian Stineman, director of the Department of Public Works.
The project is paired with the 2018 Asphalt Alley program that will resurface nine sections of alleys throughout Muscatine. This project was approved at a Public Hearing held during the July 19 City Council meeting. The contract will be awarded in August.
OAK STREET INTERSECTION CLOSED
The intersection of Oak Street and 2nd Street is now closed in the next stage of the Mississippi Drive Corridor Reconstruction Project. Underground storm sewer work is underway prior to the complete reconstruction of the intersection. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid-September.
LINN STREET INTERSECTION CLOSED
KMA Excavating has closed the Linn Street intersection with 7th Street as the West Hill Sewer Separation Project (Phase 4A) continues to move west on 7th Street. The intersection will be reopened temporarily after the underground work moves into the 400 block of West 7th Street.
