City Attorney and City Prosecutor

Responsibilities

The City Attorney is responsible for the following items:

  • Assisting in the preparation and review of legal documents and other matters in which the city has an interest
  • Processing claims and suits for and against the city and providing written opinions to the City Council, the city administrator, and city departments
  • Providing counsel and direction to the city by attending meetings of the City Council
  • Representing the city before the courts and administrative agencies where the city has an interest

The City Prosecutor is responsible for handling traffic citations and automated traffic enforcement violations.
