Throughout the history of law enforcement there have been men and women who were willing to go above and beyond what was required of them in the performance of their duties. Federal, state and local governmental agencies have determined that in such cases those men and women were deserving of special recognition for their selfless acts of bravery and heroism. Those acts, in some cases, may have cost the officer his or her life.
